Hell’s Gate National Park- Day Trip

Hell’s Gate National Park is a unique park located in the Great Rift region of Kenya, just outside Naivasha town.

It was named Hell’s Gate because of its unique landscape which constitutes of many cliffs and rocks formed through volcanic activity in the area. It also has a large pre-historic river which feeds Lake Naivasha, which guests can walk through during the dry season. The park is also home to many geothermal wells, as the region it lies still experiences volcanic activity, cementing its name ‘Hell’s Gate’.

The day’s trip to Hell’s Gate will expose you to a unique scenery, wildlife that is found within the park, and other activities like rock climbing, bike riding within the park, bird watching, camping. You will also get to interact with the local Maasai community and even, go fishing and boat riding at Lake Naivasha, which is a stones-throw away from the park.

Some of the wildlife to expect in the park include; African buffalo, Thomson’s gazelle and baboons, the klipspringer antelope and Chandler’s mountain reedbuck, zebra, eland, hartebeest and many species of birds.
