Day 1: Arrival in Nairobi & Transfer to Tsavo East National Park

Your adventure begins with your arrival at Nairobi’s Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, where your Pega Tours guide will greet you. From Nairobi, you’ll embark on a scenic drive to Tsavo East National Park, one of the largest and oldest parks in Kenya. Known for its vast, arid landscapes, Tsavo East offers some of the best game viewing opportunities in Kenya.

Upon arrival, you’ll check into your accommodation and enjoy a delicious lunch. In the afternoon, you’ll embark on your first game drive. Tsavo East is famous for its large herds of elephants, which are often seen dusting themselves in the red soil, giving the park its distinctive look. The park is also home to lions, cheetahs, giraffes, zebras, and various antelope species. As you explore the park, you’ll also see the beautiful Yatta Plateau, which provides a striking backdrop for wildlife photography.

Day 2: Full Day Safari in Tsavo East

On Day 2, you’ll enjoy a full day of exploration in Tsavo East National Park. The park’s diverse habitats, ranging from open plains to dense bush and riverine forests, provide the perfect environment for various wildlife species. You’ll spend the day tracking wildlife, with a special focus on the famous red elephants of Tsavo. These elephants have adapted to the park’s red earth, which they dust onto their bodies, creating a unique and striking appearance.

Throughout your game drive, keep an eye out for the park’s other residents, including leopards, crocodiles, buffaloes, and numerous bird species. You will also visit the Voi River, where you can spot elephants and other animals coming to drink. In the evening, relax at your lodge or camp, enjoying the sounds of the African wilderness.

Day 3: Tsavo East to Tsavo West National Park

After breakfast, you’ll journey to Tsavo West National Park, another jewel of Kenya’s wilderness. Known for its stunning scenery and diverse wildlife, Tsavo West offers a completely different experience compared to Tsavo East. Upon arrival, you’ll check into your accommodation before setting off on an afternoon game drive.

Tsavo West is home to the famous Mzima Springs, where clear water flows from underground streams and attracts a variety of wildlife, including hippos, crocodiles, and a wide range of bird species. The park also offers excellent opportunities to spot the “Big Five” — lions, elephants, buffaloes, leopards, and rhinos. Tsavo West’s rugged terrain, including volcanic hills, lava plains, and dense bush, provides a captivating setting for a thrilling safari experience.

Day 4: Explore Tsavo West & Return to Nairobi

On your final day, you’ll enjoy an early morning game drive in Tsavo West. The morning hours are the best time to observe animals, as they are most active at this time. You’ll have the chance to spot more wildlife before the heat of the day sets in. During your drive, you’ll pass through the stunning Sheldrick Falls and enjoy the park’s dramatic landscapes.

After your morning safari, you’ll return to your lodge for a hearty breakfast. Then, you’ll begin your journey back to Nairobi, reflecting on your unforgettable adventure through Kenya’s wild heart. Depending on your flight time, you’ll be transferred to the airport or a local hotel.
